The 4/5/6 students focused on early civilization, specifically Mesopotamia and their need for inventions.
This last quarter we focused on various early civilizations and how they met their needs by creating useful tools and ideas to further their civilization. We studied the Mesopotamian culture and their many inventions, including the sailboat. We took our research and used The Design Process to create a boat for our challenge. The students worked in groups to create a sailboat that sailed, floated, and was capable of carrying a weighted load that mimicked goods they would have traded for and brought back to their civilization.
